Zoologists study animals ... the entire animal, from top to bottom, and from the inside out. From insects and invertebrates to fish and mammals, zoologists seek to understand every part of the animals. They also seek to understand entire populations of species and the specific ways an animal adapts to its environment.


Program Description

BMC offers courses that cover the first 2 years of a typical 4-year college zoology program (college-level courses) as well as courses to develop skills needed for college-level courses.

Degree Options: Associate of Science Degree with a Specialization in Biology

  • Some students may need to take additional prerequisite courses.
  • The humanities and social science courses must be chosen from the humanities and social science courses on the Approved Distribution Course List.
  • At least one course must be chosen from the list of approved multicultural courses on the Approved Distribution Course List.
  • PHYS 114 and 115, or PHYS 121 and 122, or PHYS 121 and 123 are strongly recommended as elective courses for Zoology students.
  • PE activity courses cannot be used as elective courses.
  • A maximum of 5 credits of electives can be from courses that do not appear on the basic requirements list of the Associate in Arts and Sciences Degree Option A or on the Approved Distribution Course List. Such courses must be approved by a zoology and wildlife biology advisor.
